Several Essex Girls Rugby Squad players were in action at the weekend for the East Region Rugby teams. At U17's Emily Scott, Sarah Carman, NatMaClarnon, Cherelle Alphonse, Charlie Micaliff, Gemma Galbraith, RachelFrench (all Basildon and Rochford), Siobhan Franklin, Kez Hopkins(Westcliff) and Sophie Russell (Uttlesford) plus at U14's Megan Robson,Emma Dorington, Yasmin Pemberton, Ellie Martin, Alice Wright, LaylaPickering, Jess Harris, Frances Hughes, Alex Grant (all Basildon & Rochford) andAnna Roberts(Westcliff).
The U17's were to have a tough opening fixture against Yorkshire losing narrowly 7 : 5 however the team faired far better in their second gamebeating the North East region 24 : 0.
The U14's captained by Megan Robson went one better than the U17's beating both Yorkshire and the North East with two convincing 29 : 0 wins.
Congratulations to all of the other Essex girls representing their region who now have only one regional fixture left for the season, this beingthe national festival at Rugby School in Warwickshire where the England selectors see all of the regional teams play in the national tournament.
Emily Scott and Sophie Russell who are already part of the National top30 U17 Talent Development Group may soon be joined by Megan Robson,Yasmin Pemberton and Jess Harris who all have recently been nominated for the U14 Talent Development Identification programme which are a series of rugby coaching schools being set up throughout the country
